New Killzone: Shadow Fall MP Details

There are a lot of new details, so let’s just get to it…

Progression System

Instead of earning XP, players will advance by completing challenges. There will be 1500 challenges available at the game’s launch, some as simple as destroying one turret, while others can be very specific. (Example given says to “Kill 1 enemy player with Laser Tripmine while they are carrying a Beacon”) Completing challenges add points to the player’s rank, and rewards the player with weapon attachments, ability upgrades, and visual customization options.

Combat Honors

Combat Honors are temporary perks that can be activated in battle after earning enough points in a single round. They are stackable and players can continue earning more Honors as the round continues, but all Honors are lost when the game ends.

Weapons & Attachments

Each weapon in the game can have up to two attachments. Not every attachment can be used on every weapon. For example, don’t expect to be able to put a grenade launcher on a pistol. Some weapons will have more attachments to choose from than others. Also, all weapons are meant to be skilled based, so players won’t be seeing attachments to make weapons recoil-less or auto-aiming.

Spotlight System

Celebrate your impressive victory in style. At the end of each match, three top players from victors and the top player from the losers will be highlighted. One of the players from the victorious faction will have the ability to perform a “Spotlight move” in celebration. If the player fails to perform the move in time, the player from the losing faction will have the chance to respond. The game will ship with several spotlight moves and more will be made available after launch.

Leaderboards

All Warzones will have leaderboards, official and custom. When setting up a custom match, the game creator will be able to select what stats are highlighted on the leaderboard in an effort to influence the style of play for the game.

Bots

Bots will be able to be added to both online and offline modes. Online modes will allow for the bots to be swapped out for human players as more players connect to the game. This allows there to be a consistent amount participants at all times in a Warzone. It will even be possible to set up online games of that features a team of human players taking on a team of bots. Offline games with bots, it should be noted, will not allow players to complete challenges.

Exoskeletons and Jetpacks

There will be NO exoskeletons or jetpacks at launch. This is to ensure consistent play across all Warzones, and that all custom presets can work on all maps. The inclusion of exoskeletons and jetpacks would have led to many exceptions and variables to consider.

So there you all have it. What do you think about this latest bunch of details? I’m considering changing one of my pre-orders over to Killzone personally. Killzone: Shadow Fall will be available at launch for the PlayStation 4 on November 15th.
