‘Dark Souls II’ comes to PS3, Xbox 360 on March 11 with a big statue

Dark Souls II

Gluttons for torturous punishment in North America can now set their calendars to March 11, 2014, as that’s the date Namco Bandai brings From Software’s Dark Souls II to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. A PC release will be incoming as well at a later date. Fans of the devilishly challenging games outside of the U.S. won’t have to wait much longer; Dark Souls II releases in Japan on March 13 and in Europe on March 14.

All of this is confirmed in the latest trailer (below), which premiered at this week’s 2013 Tokyo Game Show. The trailer also reveals a Collector’s Edition (no pricing confirmed) that includes an art book, a cloth map of the game world, a copy of the soundtrack, a collectible steel case, and a 12-inch “Warrior Knight” figurine. Those who pre-order the game but skip the Collector’s Edition will receive the “Black Armor Edition,” which includes the steel case and the soundtrack. Neither option comes with digital in-game bonuses, though that’s no surprise from a series known for its brutally unforgiving play.

Consider this your warning that it’s time to jump back in with Dark Souls and finish grinding through the story before its successor arrives. It’s not like you’ll have any other new games or hardware to keep you busy in the coming months. No, not even this week.
