GTA IV
GTA, while at times having an impressive storyline, is at its finest when you allow it to be taken for what it is.
I spent countless evenings after a tough day playing this with my brother seeing who could get the most stars without using cheats before being stopped by the authorities. Mindless violence yes, but also hugely entertaining.
Fun fact: Did you know that GTA is, infact, a UK produced games series and not one from the USA.
Burnout Paradise
Taking out other cars is so fun, driving fast is so fun and finding jumps is so fun. The game is one of the easiest to play. It is the fun alternative to a more serious game such as Gran Turismo. If you want realistic driving experiences this is not for you. If you want to drive a formula one car around a city while doing jumps and you love the idea of crashing into your rivals to win a race this one is for you. It is probably the most exhilarating game I have ever played due to the sheer speed of the races.
Warhawk/Starhawk
Personally I don't feel that Starhawk is quite as good as Warhawk. However they are both two of the most underrated games available on the PS3. It turned my into a kid again, the best action figures always used to be the ones that came with vehicles and in both these games you will find vehicles aplenty.
Infamous 2
There is a little bit of a trend appearing here. I do like realising my childhood fantasies that will never be when I find time to game and being a superhero was definitely one of them. Lightning coming from your hands, chasing down bad guys and some awesome graphic effects make this game fun. I never could take it very seriously (wait until you see the first cut scene) but that makes it a far easier game to pick up than if I was truly engrossed in it.
Just Cause 2
Who wouldn't want to jump out of a plane and hang onto a helicopter? The map is huge, the options are never-ending and the gameplay is hugely fun. This game will never be the most challenging nor have a very good story but I could hardly care less when I was blowing things up, driving the coolest vehicles and generally letting out my inner child.
The above games are not my favourite games ever, but when I am tired and want a quick gaming session before bed or work these are the games I love to turn to. What are yours?
